"If you listen to these laws…" (Devarim 7:12). God will guard you Tishme'un( תשמעון, you will listen) is written in the plural, referring to many listeners. The object of ve-shamar Adonoy Elohekha lekha (ושמר י-ה-ו-ה אלהיך לך, God will guard you) is singular, referring to one recipient. The main way to attain Godliness is through the “many,” as everyone and everything becomes united. Once we are united, we can draw our individual blessings (Likutey Halakhot II, p. 76-39a).

"God's anger will burn against you… You should place these words of Mine on your heart." God's anger is not meant solely to punish. Rather, it is a means of awakening a person to return to God so that he can begin to heal. Thus, verse 18 begins with the word ve-SaMtem (ושמתם, you should place). The Torah possesses two powers: it can be a SaM (סם, elixir or potion) of life, or a SaM of death (Yoma 72b). One must learn to accept the Torah for life. The same applies to one's fear of God. One should strive to accept God's anger and the fear of punishment as being for his benefit, as an elixir of life (Likutey Halakhot III, p. 322).

'Follow God… devote yourselves to Him" (Devarim 13:5). תִדְבָּקֽוּן Tidbakun (devote yourselves) literally means "attach yourselves." A person must do both, to the best of his ability: he must perform the mitzvot and thereby attach himself to God, and he must attach himself to God in all circumstances and devotions (Likutey Halakhot III, p. 230a).

This verb root (דָּבַק) is the same that is used in Genesis 2:24, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall CLEAVE (attach/devote) unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh." This is the kind of intimacy Hashem wants with us, to be joined/attached as a husband and wife. What does it mean to attach myself to my spouse? It means to seek his pleasure and joy, and to be in unity and harmony with him. I remember times in my marriage when I felt detached to my husband for the most part, getting together minimally only for a few common interests such as to care for our children. Through uniting in the ways of Torah, we have grown closer not only to each other but also to Hashem.
How many of you took some time today and looked at the eclipse?

True Teaching is Giving. A wise mother doesn't just ask "how can I teach this to my child," but "how can I give this to my child." The 2nd way implies that the mother must possess it before she can give it to the child. Any character trait that we see our children need to develop, we must pray that we first truly have ourselves. Do we have patience? Do we have self-control? Do we have joy and gratitude instead of complaints? Do we have love for Hashem? We can not give them these things unless we ourselves have them. (Thoughts based on my meditation of Shalom Arush's "Garden of Education")
My brother posted this kn fb so I decided to share here:
