I love spring. A bit of sun, a bit of dirt, and the world is a beautiful place. How do I merit this blessing? This land? Sometimes I forget. It is lonely out here, and I dare to complain. But that is another topic. In spring, I am reminded why I always dreamed of living in the country.
Tax returns come about this time, and Tractor Supply was prepared. Aww, I am in love… with spring.
Oh… for yall who don’t know, we live in Michigan. But all these plants will grow in zone 5. ?!? Really? Fig and Kiwi? But according to the boxes they just need some winter covering. Ok. For $8 I’ll gamble.

We had a first thaw, but the moment I bring these home, the snows come again. What a year. It is still early. I don’t know who plans what for the stores, but they are always off a season. Seriously! Bathing suits and plants when there is snow on the ground; snow gear in fall and gone before winter. Even the greenhouses shut down for the winter up here. To get past frost, we put plants out after Labor Day. This morning, 28 degrees. We transplanted one old bush and came back inside for hot chocolate. To buy early and plant late....
My kitchen does double duty…
and the chicks bunk with the kids.
I still have pineberries and strawberries to plant, somewhere. I got a little carried away. I now have… oh, wow, I just read the boxes again… I have 20 Pineberry plants, and 40 strawberry plants. Oopse.
May HaShem bless this year for a good year. We'll show you how it goes...
