I have recently been working my way through "Crossing the Narrow Bridge:  A practical Guide to Rebbe Nachman's Teachings".  As I've shared before, I'm not the deepest thinker in the world, but my reading this morning got me thinking.  So...guess I can think after all....

In the section about "joy", it was noted how it is important to find even a little bit of Good within one's self which can help us avoid depression..  "When a person finds that little bit, that inch of forward movement which a man makes in this lowly physical world, God considers it like thousands upon thousands of miles in the Upper Worlds."

Following that statement was an "object lesson" about a wheel.  Consider yourself as the center point of a wheel out from which extend lines (or spokes) to an outer wheel.  {I envisioned a bicycle wheel}.  The spokes are close together at the center and farther apart at the outer wheel.  The center, or hub, only needs to move a little to make a point on the outer wheel move many, many times.

Comparing this to the supernal universes:  ..."this physical world is no more than a dot in a large circle, the center of the spoke.  One iota of movement towards good in this world brings a change in position of thousands and even millions of miles in the Upper Worlds."  (Rabbi Nachma's Stories #16)

So, in thinking about this, we not only need to find "good" in ourselves, but also in others.    When we find good points in others, it enables us to find an immense amount of good that we have within ourselves.  Also...as we realize the abundance of good we have in our lives, we will be prompted to serve that Father and others even more.  Thereby moving our hub in this temporary world a little bit, but affecting the World to Come a great deal.

Hope I haven't confused you today.  Thanks for letting me ramble again.

Baruch Hashem & Shalom
