Today I find myself reading a very familiar passage -- John 3:16 - 18. However, I now have the Complete Jewish Study Bible. This translation really helped me to finally completely understand this entire passage. Check it out...
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that through him, the world might be saved. Those who trust in him are not judged; those who do not trust have been judged already; in that they have not trusted in the one who is God's only and unique Son."
Another passage that has taken on new meaning for me is Matthew 6: 9-13...
"Our Father in heaven! May your Name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us the food we need today.
Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us.
And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.
For Kingship, power and glory are yours forever.
Amen"
Pretty cool, huh?
