True Teaching is Giving. A wise mother doesn't just ask "how can I teach this to my child," but "how can I give this to my child." The 2nd way implies that the mother must possess it before she can give it to the child. Any character trait that we see our children need to develop, we must pray that we first truly have ourselves. Do we have patience? Do we have self-control? Do we have joy and gratitude instead of complaints? Do we have love for Hashem? We can not give them these things unless we ourselves have them.
