Day 1 ~ What is the Month of Av~ An Introduction

So, what is the Month of Av?

For me, the Month of Av always feels akin to a semester test.  The "voice of G-d" seems to grow more "still and small" as day after day, from the 17th of Tammuz until the conclusion of Av each day is riddled with one difficult circumstance after another.   I once resisted the thought of a loving G-d “testing" His children, but now that I homeschool my children, I can see that the point of the test is not to show Him where we are at, (because He already knows), it is to show us.  So we know what to ask for help with.  The Month of Av is slightly more serious, as I believe He determines our "curriculum" for the year based, largely, on the results of the tests of Av.
